After two years of war, Chandragupta was considered to have gained the upper hand in the conflict and annexed satrapies up to the Hindu Kush.

Afterwards, Chandragupta expanded and secured his western border, where he was confronted by Seleucus I Nicator in the Seleucid-Mauryan War. He then set out to conquer the Nanda Empire centered in Pataliputra, Magadha. Chandragupta first gained regional prominence in the Greater Punjab region in the Indus. Chandragupta defeated and conquered both the Nanda Empire, and the Greek satraps that were appointed or formed from Alexander's Empire in South Asia. Prior to his consolidation of power, Alexander the Great had invaded the North-West Indian subcontinent before abandoning his campaign in 324 BCE due to a mutiny caused by the prospect of facing another large empire, presumably the Nanda Empire. Chandragupta, under the tutelage of Chanakya, created a new empire based on the principles of statecraft, built a large army, and continued expanding the boundaries of his empire until ultimately renouncing it for an ascetic life in his final years. Chandragupta's life and accomplishments are described in ancient Greek, Hindu, Buddhist and Jain texts (ancient Indian texts), but they vary significantly.Ĭhandragupta Maurya was an important figure in the history of India, laying the foundations of the first state to unite most of India. Chandragupta built one of the largest empires on the Indian subcontinent. 324–297 BCE) was the founder of the Maurya Empire in ancient India. In India, Brahmins are given immense respect, even by rulers, but Chandragupta is extremely rude towards Chanakya in the beginning.Chandragupta Maurya ( Sanskrit: चन्द्रगुप्त मौर्य Candragupta Maurya Ancient Greek: Σανδράκοττος Sandrákottos Latin: Androcottus reign: c. Chandragupta's relationship with Chanakya could also have been much better.

Sure, Chandragupta was shown as a talented youth but it doesn't make sense how Dhana Nanda gives him more importance than his Prime Minister and right-hand man, Amatya Rakshasa and his elder brothers. It is quite unrealistic how Dhana Nanda gives Chandragupta so much importance and all but adopts him as his own son. In fact, by the time he came to India (305 BCE), Chandragupta had long become king! In the show, Chandragupta serves Dhana Nanda as a slave while simultaneously plotting against him. While historically, Seleucus was busy fighting fellow generals after his king Alexander had died. Here he is shown being a major enemy of Chandragupta alongside Dhana Nanda. Seleucus I Nicator was also done injustice in this show. It would have been great to see the protagonist of the prequel, Porus, interact with Chandragupta. But in this show, in 323 BCE Chandragupta has not even met Chanakya! Porus is also shown dead in 323 BCE, while he historically died between 321-315 BCE. Chandragupta may also have met Porus and Alexander. Historically, Chandragupta became king in around 321 BCE so by the time of Alexander's death (323 BCE), his training with Chanakya and revolution against Dhana Nanda had likely started. Minus points: The show deviates a lot from history. The background score is very good and according to the situation.
#CHANDRAGUPTA MAURYA SERIAL REVIEW PLUS#
Plus points: All actors performed their roles admirably, the visuals are quite good (though upon closer inspection, many mistakes can be found). Talking about positives, I tried but there are none. He practiced by targeting an apple placed on her mother's head and nailed it with the first try(With no previous experience). And poor animation, as well. Oh, and training scenes of Chandragupta, ah what to say about those.

Can't he see the patriotism flowing through the viens of Veer bhadra, whom he has sacrificed for saving useless Chandragupta. Chanakya was so desperate to work with Chandragupta from the first time he had seen him but clearly, Chandragupta is shown to not having any good qualities. They made one of the biggest intellect of Indian history look like a total idiot. The most irritating thing is Chanakya's character, it is totally stupid and cringeworthy. Chandragupta, in real life was befriended Chanakya in their first meeting, but in this show, he was reluctant to receive any help from him. This show is(Like any other historical show these days) is far away from actual history.

Spoiler: Plain stupidity in every episode.
